Today was the day of observations.
It had to be because I dreamed in Spanish last night. I think it is consuming my mind in a Spatalan (Spanish-Catalan) sort of way!
Today was the first dia a la clase de Espanol. Living here I am just sucking it in. I say si and gracias when I do not mean to! But life here is great. Today I discovered so much about myself. I can do things myself, and figure out things on my own without the direct effort of anyone else. I watch motions and make eye contact and I can generally figure it out. Catalan is so complex too. It is a mix between French, Spanish, Italian and North African. And it is confusing me with the mix of Spanish.
My daily observations
*Spanish music: it is in English. My girl (the temptations), Disturbia (rihanna), Pussycat Dolls Don’t cha, and worst Man I Feel like a Woman (Shania Twain) were the four last songs I heard on the radio which are popular! Hmmm in the phone store Orange people were singing these American songs with Catalan accents. Potentially the highlight of el dia seis en Catalunia.
*Spain it is not customary to wash your hands. After the bathroom in La Corte Ingles we watched (and it is a higher end department store) and NOBODY washed their hands in 10 minutes. No wonder bacterium spreads. And woman pee with the seat up! How they do it! No clue! The pigeons need control too! They flock and hover.
*Metro transit is amazing. US take note!!!
*Spaniards smoke like chimneys. No me gusta!
*Barcelona preserved its historia like no other. It seems to amazing me every day I am here.
*People show PDA way more than the US. Making out girl/guy, guy/guy, old couples it doesn’t matter, it happens. And it’s like soft porn. And the sad part is pregnancy rate of teens is lower in Spain than the US.
*It snowed (very rare) and there is Palm trees. Enough said.
*Hello Kitty Obsession. How? Even thongs…

*Guys need to learn to respect women. Hissing, blowing kissing, hair touching, and ass kissing is a no go in today’s society. Today a man stopped his bike blew a kiss at me, and stared for a good minute. Creepy and not atractive
*Barca boys have fash. Guys were turtlenecks (and can look good) and they are not afraid to show style, and still be straight. They are confident in whom they are, and American guys should use this as a model of what they should be like. Quicksilver and Volcom are fashionable with scarves and belts!
*The friends you make here become your life. You become instantly close.
Today we explored la Cuidad.
And we went to the park that looked like a jungle. It was mucho frio, but we walked everywhere! We found cell phones (translated ourselves) and rode the metro to Corte De Ingles. A HUGE (supposed Walmart, nottttt) department store with name brands. It was so chaotic.
I love my friends here. They are amazing and we are bonding so well. We even pigeon chase together, and have in depth sex conversations at the table during lunch...
They are amazing :-)
