Day 5 January 6, 2009 Tuesday

Feliz Dia De Los Reyes and no King Cake for me! This holiday brought thunder, lighting, hail, and snow! Something rare for Barcelona! King cake is where you eat a sweet cake and inside the cake there is a king and a bear. If you get the paper king, you get good luck and to boss everyone else around during the day, and if you get the bean you pay for the cake! I walked from Corte de borrels today to the Hotel Havana for our tour. The tour was an amazing experience in a couple hours. We saw so much of Barcelona so quickly! We saw bull rings; Gaudi’s Art, The Olympic Village
the Segrada Familia, Gaudi’s park, The Olympic venues, the Soccer stadium, the Sea and we went to the top of the mountains in a huge fort. From the mountain we could see the Mediterranean and the whole city! It was gorgeous! From this view I knew why Barcelona is such a magnificent city! We walked around Las Rambas (always chaotic) and ate at a Paneria. Then we went to a cafĂ© that had Catalan drinks and my hot chocolate was PURE CHOCOLATE! Just thick and amazing! The girls explored Barcelona with me today!
We are now ready to take on anything! All the streets are so close together and everyone is so friendly (no matter what past visitors have said). They are patient with your struggling Spanish and will help you figure our directions or currency problems. Every day I am loving this city more and more. It has anything you could ever imagine. It really is the city of wonder.
