So I almost over slept wine tasting! I feel like I’m getting sick, and last night (even though I didn’t go dancing), somehow wore myself out. But I made it, and like always Erin rocks it there first (with pita and cream cheese). A few kids didn’t make it! It was Erin, Lainey and I, and the boys (aka) who pretty much hungout the whole time going to Sitges.
We got to the Winery and it was perfect day out! It was like DC for the cherry blossom festival, things were in bloom, and the sun was shining! We did a tour in a vehicle, and I couldn’t believe how much wine was produced at Tores. Then we got to taste their main varieties of wine (which was a full glass of wine each). I decided I only like white wines, and red wines are too heavy. I like sweeter white wines. I learned how you only swirl red wines to smell, and how you should hold the glass. I learned the varieties of how to test the legs for the alcohol content. I feel so much more educated, and now I can have a conversation about wine! I didn’t like my red wines so I kept pouring mine into Jordan’s glass!
After wine tasting we went and lay in green grass outside of the winery! I miss seeing thick, rich green grass! They lack that in Europe (most likely because people don’t water their yards, and it is the city!) We went to Sitges after the wine tour, and this was my favorite part of the excursion. The beach was perfect! The sun was shining, the waves were crashing and it is the prettiest beach I have seen in Europe. It isn’t beachy like the Caribbean, but a scene where the church is on a rocky cliff and the rocks crash against the side of it! A wedding there, on a clear summer night would be the prettiest picture perfect place. Lainey, Erin and I played in the water, and laid in the sun. All the boys took off their shirts and were tanning. What tools. Just spending the afternoon at the beach was the perfect day! Sitges looked so much prettier sober. The last time we were here was for Carnival, and you couldn’t see the beach. But I did remember climbing on the phone by the church! That is where I lost my phone! It wasn’t a romantic/crazy Sitges night. But Sitges by day was a “beach” holiday in the gay capital of Spain! We ate bocodillos on the beach and walked around. I love the breeze off of the sea! I still can’t believe this Sitges was the same where Sitges Carnival was!
Tonight we hungout along the Rambla and went and got Mcflurries (which is wayyyy better than the US!) It has gelato, and oreos! Yummmmm! We went to Katie’s friends place, and then ended up in La Raval by the absinthe bar. Here you drink absinthe (which is extremely strong alcohol with worm wood? This allows you to stay drunk. You melt an ice cube over the glass and stir while adding water and it will turn colors! And then you drink it and it tastes like black liquorish! It is 70% alcohol or like 110 proof, but doesn’t taste bad! We went and ate falalfs and it was the best choice of the night! We downed the huge pitas with fried chickpeas sitting down in the place with the dread lock guys! The falafals taste Amazing. And Jazz was iffy about it the first time she tried it! I LOVE Saturday night falafel downing!
