Day 25, January 26, 2009 Monday

Today I changed my name to Rachel Wise-Janz because Erin and I decided that we are learning so much from each other. Which is exactly what I wanted to happen on this trip. Today she bought her first pair of jeans in a longtime, and I bought my first pair of leggings. It was a first for both of us. She hated the way jeans suck to your legs, and I can’t stand how leggings show off my unflattering part of my body. But it was a huge step for both of us. I am learning to like things from Erin and she is learning from me. It is like we are a married couple. And I know I can depend on my girls here if I need help.

Today for lunch I ate American food, or at least mashed potatoes. They tasted so good! I needed something solid, and that reminded me of home. After the girls left to class Arik and I went on an adventure. We walked through the Macba area of town and headed to the west. I am shocked still how many people smoke pot outside without worrying about police. We searched through Chinese shops and looked at all of the junk they were selling. It was like a family dollar at an extreme level. We were like little kids in a candy shop! Wait we were in a candy shop multiple times during the night! Then we decided to explore the bus schedule. We rode the bus and went to the park. I love European Parks. They would be perfect if the lake was right there. If I wasn’t so lazy, I could have walked to the water. I told Arik my obsession with alliterations and that was a bad idea!

In Barcelona I have no bladder control. When I have to pee, I have to go! That is my random thought of the day. When I get urges they are horrible! I don’t understand why it is so bad here! It may be because I never drink water and when I do I pound it. And everything is full of salt. They add salt to the salads, meat, breakfast, everything. And a lot of their food is microwave. It’s really good, but just pre packaged. Tuna is my new obsession. I love it so much. I crave it and eat it on pizza, plain or on bread. Hopefully that will be the only fish I ever say that for!
